Why is the Me Center allowed to process information this way, essentially unabated? It is so hard to focus on no thinking for even 15 minutes. However I am trying it for 2 weeks already every day and I managed to make it to 40 minutes of meditating. I know that I just need to be persistent and not give up.

Be deliberate. When you walk into the kitchen, set up everything you need. Play relaxing or energizing music. Take your focus off your to-do list and onto serving your soul. Enjoy the process and then enjoy the meal!

I’m giving a meditation presentation to my spiritual study group next month. If you could give any words of wisdom to beginners, what would it be? I’d be thrilled to pass something along from my “guru”. We have people aging from 20s to 80s…it’s such a beautiful thing!

  1. 6. Meditation is not the absence of thoughts.  People often think meditation means trying to rid the mind of thoughts.  That single misconception leads to a tremendous amount of frustration for people new to meditation. When you try to force your mind to be quiet, it never works.
    I wasn’t going to comment, but honestly I feel very grateful for what you are sharing with so many and I wanted to thank you. I’m always learning, and I’ve recently learned, from you, some pretty awesome ways to fit meditation into my life more regularly—something I’ve been “meaning to do” for a while. I believe it will happen. It’s already happening. Thank you.
    8.  Ego wants to come along!  As soon as you decide to meditate, your ego eagerly wants to come along too and bring all its neurotic and habitual patterns to the meditation cushion (or chair) as well.  Whatever patterns typically dominate your life will show up in your meditation.  For example:
    Now let’s think you’ve accomplished that for 5 minutes. Maintain your eyes closed, and convey your awareness into your heart, correct in the midst of the chest. With all your awareness try out to view, sense, experience your heartbeat. See If you’re able to perception your heartbeat possibly as being a sound or a sensation.
