One of the effect of meditation is the balancing effect. Very simply put if you go too much on the right (right channel) you`ll come back bouncing to the left (left channel) and therefore fall asleep.
9. Painful memories and emotions may rise. When you’re in a state of relaxed awareness, painful memories may arise and trigger difficult emotional states. Through your own experience in meditation, you know that thoughts and emotions are transitory if you leave them alone. This is how healing can occur.

Haribol and Namaste 🙂 I am new to Meditation and have done much reading over the last two days. It appears as though ‘some’ people that i have either met or from the statements i have read over the internet, that they see only their own type of meditation as the ‘ony’ way!! An they ridicule other types of meditation !! This seems bizarre when they have not sought to acquire answers through practice of the meditation that they do not do!! Trying to put me off Sahaja Med only wants me to practice to estabish ‘any’ benefits! Surely one of the reasons we shoud meditaten is to show compassion, facilitate awareness, endorse peace, love and harmony etc etc?? lol 🙂 Peace to all , Seren x

Guided Meditation is like cooking with a recipe. It’s a good way to start, and you can eat the food you make like this. But once you understand the main principles and flavors, you can cook your own dish. It will have a different, unique taste; it will be tailored for you, and more powerful. And then you will not want to use the recipe anymore – unless if you are trying a dish of another cuisine. 😉

Beginning a meditation practice can be both exciting and intimidating. If you asked 10 different people what style of meditation they practice, you might get 10 different answers. It’s common to feel overwhelmed and uncertain as to where or how to get started.
I realized today that in all my posts regarding the brain and how to sculpt it with mindfulness, I’ve never actually explained how and why meditation works. Specifically, the science behind how your brain changes the longer you meditate. I think this is important for many reasons, but one of the most salient is that this information serves as a great motivator to keep up a daily practice (or start one).

Qigong (also spelled chi kung, or chi gung) is a Chinese word that means “life energy cultivation”, and is a body-mind exercise for health, meditation, and martial arts training. It typically involves slow body movement, inner focus, and regulated breathing. Traditionally it was practiced and taught in secrecy in the Chinese Buddhist, Taoist and Confucianist traditions. In the 20th century, Qigong movement has incorporated and popularized Daoist meditation, and “mainly employs concentrative exercises but also favors the circulation of energy in an inner-alchemical mode” (Kohn 2008a:120).
One common visualization practice is centered around health. Now keep your awareness in your heart and just for one minute, experience gratitude. You experience gratitude by thinking of all the things you’re already grateful for. The more you experience gratitude, the more you’ll attract things in your life that will make you feel even more grateful. Meditation can open the door to the unconscious so healing can occur. But you have to feel ready for this. You definitely don’t want to traumatize or re-traumatize yourself. If you’re a trauma survivor or live with mental illness, check with your therapist before exploring emotional wounds in meditation.
Dear gabby, i love your videos and your teaching! They’ve helped me a lot! However, my mother tongue is spanish and sometimes i feel like the mantras in english (peace begins with me for exAmple) take longer to cause effect. I dont know if it is a language thing or a concentration-mind thing. Let me know your thoughts please! Also, is it ok if i translate the mantras to spanish for my own use or create my own?
