Apples, cabbage, onions and garlic are good sources of quercetin, a powerful flavonoid. The flavonoid apigenin is found in parsley, celery and chamomile. Genistein and diadzein are isoflavones found in fermented soy. Red wine is still another source of healing flavonoids. Although alcohol may increase aromatase activity, the flavonoid components of red wine more than make up for it. Chrysin and other flavonoids from flowers are found in significant amounts in bee propolis and bee pollen. Any woman with signs of estrogen dominance may benefit from adding these flavonoid containing foods to her diet.

    There are a couple of Pali words worth remembering, because you will hear them over and over again in discussions about vipassana meditation. They are: “rupa” and “nama.” Among other things, rupa means material form. Nama means the mind. In summary: the sitting posture is material form (rupa). The mind (nama) knows—is aware of—the form.

    The events that I experienced were the catalyst to launch me into my work as a healer.     The rationale is: This puts the left brain in a state of confusion so that it can’t easily decipher shapes, lost its top-bottom orientation, unable to attach labels and categorize them to match stored memories. This process creates an opportunity to integrate your right-brain and allows it to become dominant. When presented with a confusing image, the left-brain gives up and the right-brain takes over. 

    You have probably heard of the saying that the best way to deal with a challenging issue is to sleep on it.

    For those that have sports specific goals and activities, it’s essential to support that specific sport or activity with a complimentary program incorporating strength training, cardio vascular and flexibility training to ensure your enjoyment, and success in reaching your goals. A marathon runner will need to follow a different program than say a tennis player, a golfer, soccer player, hockey player or a paddler.  All of the key components should be included but in different methods, intensity and duration specific to the individual sport and it’s requirements.

    Like so many members of our boomer generation, I walked away from organized religion long ago. Baptized and confirmed Episcopalian in childhood, my last steady churchgoing experience involved attending “youth services” in my teens, where we stood around in a prayer circle in our jeans and sandals, singing contemporary hymns in a fog of incense. In recent years, my presence in any house of worship largely has been confined to weddings, funerals, a few bat mitzvahs and the occasional Christmas Eve service. But in regard to memory, someone might think, “I cherish my happy memories. Why should I give them up?” Again, your memories will not be permanently erased. You’ll be able to recall a certain event whenever you want to. But the more you train the mind to stay in the present moment, the more you’ll see that clinging to the past and living in the future actually cause suffering. Attachment to pleasant memories makes long for something that is gone, and this longing is in itself painful. This can seem somewhat irresponsible to those who like to have a plan, set goals and work hard, but Hoff explains to Pooh that in fact because we are so busy ‘doing’ – we are not always open to the possibilities that the universe is creating for us, we can’t see the forest for the trees – and that was what was happening to me – enter this little book.     The way to be free of suffering, the Buddha said, is to develop ourselves in three areas: morality, concentration, and wisdom. The last two aspects are addressed by meditation practice. But these in turn rest on a foundation of morality.

    Instead of rushing around in a high state of anxiety and worry about crossing every item off of our never-ending to-do list, we could choose another way – one which will make this holiday season enjoyable, fun, and peaceful for us and those around us.

    By using this mantra, the practitioner experiences the thought of that sound and starts minimizing that thought to experience the finer states of that thought – until the source of thought is fathomed and the conscious mind reaches the transcendental area of being.”

    I love inspiring people. I have been fortunate enough to have had the time and guidance in my life to help me find some of those answers, and it’s important to me to be able to share what I have learned on my own journey.

    Make a list of 10 things that you are grateful for. Take the time right now…nothing like the present (which is your gift because all there is, is NOW). Take out a piece of paper and write them down before you read on. Only NOW counts! What time is it? NOW!!

    Also, consider that sugar in the blood will trigger insulin production. The insulin comes into the blood and moves the excess sugar into the cells. What if the cells are full of glucose? At some point, the cells signal no more please. This is what they call insulin resistance. Excess sugar will convert into body fat.

    The concept of property or ownership is also an illusion. If I do not exist, I cannot own anything. Even if I do exist, all things are impermanent, so ownership as a status that stays the same over a period of time is not possible. I can say that the (illusory) object is here, close to me, today; tomorrow, it may not be.

    What this means to you in this lifetime is that there are potentially thousands of people alive right now that you have interacted with on a regular basis. Past lovers, spouses, siblings, friends, enemies, bosses and employees who have impacted us on a measurable scale tend to stick with us, and us with them. SO when you meet that person that just seems to click with you, know that there is a reason you met them, and will keep meeting them, because karmically you are in a constant exchange of lessons.

    The second area of goals is your business and career goals. These are the “how” goals, the means by which you achieve your personal, “why” goals. How can you achieve the level of income that will enable you to fulfill your family goals? How can you develop the skills and abilities to stay ahead of the curve in your career? Business and career goals are absolutely essential, especially when balanced with family and personal goals.

    Well my friends I figured this out at a very young age but for some reason through my life’s journey had never found a group of people who felt the same. Everyone’s attitude was “me, me, and me”. No one was interested in entertaining the idea of “togetherness” because; why would they help me? What would they get from it? If they helped me that would take the spotlight off of them and perhaps keep them from getting that promotion that they have been searching for and when they get it will realize that it wasn’t quite what they were expecting.     A word of advice: don’t try the variations until you are adept at the basic exercise. And don’t proceed to the next variation until you’ve mastered previous one, even if that takes a month, a year, or longer.     The earlier they are begun, the better the chances of improvement. It is important to realize that none of these therapies are ‘quick fixes’, and require perseverance over a long period of time.

    As time passes, however, Muna and Fadi find allies who help ease their transition, most notably Muna’s nerdy co-worker Matt (Brodie Sanderson), Fadi’s principal Mr. Novatski (Joseph Ziegler) and, to a certain extent, even Raghda and Nabeel’s daughters (Alia Shawkat, Jenna Kawar, Selena Haddad).     The methods I’ve told you and if you check other posts I’ve made recently are really intense and deep and expose everything you could really need. But if you want ‘the truth’ you wont find it directly by reading. It cant be desribed. People try but its a waste you cant do it. You need to look inside yourself and follow your path truly. You never need to go further than your own bedroom. But some alone time is useful. E.g. a few days or a week. You dont need to go trekking up the Himalayas or grow a beard or buy incense. or beads. or chant. Actually, chanting and singing is very good for you learn to sing automatically, not controlling what your voice does.

    My struggle with body loathing, and the healing process, was a process. It did not happen overnight. But it did happen. And this is the most important thing for people to hear. Freedom from body-loathing, freedom from self-hatred, freedom from suffering and un-lovability, is completely possible. It only requires a willingness for it to end. It might sound odd, but this willingness usually grows over time.

    I feel thankful for all that was in order for me to be. For grace, for wisdom, for the sacred, for spirit as I know it. For this moment, this breath, this sight. For every good thing that was, that is, that ever will be.

    The Full Moon of December 2nd will be a relatively uneventful one. The will be a tendency to go out in too many directions. The New Moon of December 16th will be relatively easy but you need to let other people talk. The Full Moon Eclipse of December 31 will be a difficult one. Worries will pile up. Say little!     I have struggled to meditate regularly for the last three decades because my belief that I should meditate is intellectual, cognitive. But my avoidance of it—my fear of not being good enough—is emotional.

    How do you consciously meet the reality of your life? Do you tell the truth to yourself about your reality or do you resist it? Are you to be open to the reality of your life 100% and notice what it triggers in your being? Each day the landscape of our life changes and we find ourselves in a new place of reality.
